8) NEPI, CASTEL SANT' ELIA  AND CALCATA

Calcata

We will visit the picturesque town of Nepi, dominated by the sixteenth-century walls  and by the Borgia Fortress; besides we will visit the Catacombs of Saint Savinilla; we will continue, therefore, toward Castel Sant'Elia famous for its suggestive Romanesque basilica dedicated to Saint Elia or Saint Anastasio. Finally we will end visiting the town of Calcata, an inhabited area placed on a circular cliff in the middle of the valley of Treia river, particularly suggestive during Christmas period.

9) ANCIENT OSTIA

Ostia Antica

We will visit the archaeological park of Ancient Ostia that, together with those of Pompeii and Herculaneum, offers a complete vision of an ancient roman city. We will admire the wonderful mosaics in the square of the Guilds and the frescos of the house of Paintings, the fishmongers' tabernae, the ruins related to the Forum and to the Theater and the main part of the archaeological materials recovered during the excavations and now preserved in the museum of Ostia.

10) PALESTRINA

Santuario Fortuna primigenia - Palestrina

We will visit the suggestive sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia based on six artificial terraces and the National Archaeological Museum of Palestrina, housed inside the Colonna Barberini Palace, that exhibits among various works the famous gravestones having a pine-cone form and the large and important mosaic depicting the flooding of the Nile dating back to 80 B.C., probably coming from the area of the Forum, one of the greatest examples of Hellenistic mosaics still preserved. 

11) TARQUINIA - NECROPOLIS AND ETRUSCAN MUSEUM

Museo Etrusco a Tarquinia

We will visit the suggestive etruscan necropolis, rich in room tombs with wall paintings that constitute the most complete documentation of the development of the etruscan painting from VII to II century B.C., the etruscan museum housed in the Vitelleschi Palace, where it's possible to admire some among the most famous etruscan sarcofagis in the world. It is valuable the terra cotta sculpture reproducing two winged horses (IV-III B.C.) that was part of the pediment of the temple called Ara della Regina placed in the near Acropolis. The visit will finish with a pleasant walk around the medieval suburb.

12) TIVOLI - HADRIAN'S VILLA , VILLA  D'ESTE AND VILLA GREGORIANA

Villa Adriana a Tivoli

We will visit Hadrian's Villa, the grandiose residence planned and made to build by the emperor Hadrian between 118 and 133. Here we will admire the beauty of the monumental portico, the Pecile, the temple built in honor of Antinoo, the Antinoeion, the maritime theater, the Canopo and the ruins of the imperial palace. It will follow the visit of Villa d'Este, residence of the cardinal Ippolito II, reconstructed by the architect Pirro Logorio, famous for its sumptuous italian garden with fountains that create magnificent water games. We will end visiting Villa Gregoriana, a wide public park wanted by pope Gregorio XVI and realized in 1835.

13) TUSCANIA - GREAT CATHEDRALS AND ETRUSCAN MUSEUM

Tuscania

We will visit one of the most beautiful and suggestive cities of the Tuscia where we will admire the beautiful Romanesque cathedrals of Saint Peter and of Saint Mary Major and the National Etruscan Museum that houses archaeological rests coming from the sites of the Madonna of the Olivo and Carcarello, among which numerous sarcofagis made with terra cotta and nenfro belonging to some tombs of the Curunas, an etruscan family. The visit will finish with a pleasant walk around the medieval suburb.

14) VITERBO: THE CITY OF THE POPES

Viterbo

We will have a walk in the most ancient and more authentic urbanistic part of the city. We will visit San Pellegrino district, the Cathedral and the Papal Palace, the Palazzo Comunale and other interesting churches such as the church of Saint Sisto, Saint Maria della Verità and Saint Francesco. 
We will visit the National Etruscan Museum, dedicated to the etruscan architecture of the territory of Viterbo and to the findings coming from some necropolises near Viterbo. It will conclude our walk the visit of the Renaissance Sanctuary of Madonna della Quercia and of Villa Lante at Bagnaia.

15) VULCI

Vulci

We will visit the archaeological park of Vulci, the inhabited area and the necropolises, among which the famous François Tomb and the great tumulus the Cuccumella, the archaeological museum housed in the picturesque Abbadia and the bridge, known for the characteristic range of stalactites, still called the handkerchief of the Devil.
